It was very obvious it was going in a more G rated politically correct direction much like many other festivals that got bigger over time to the music goes in favor of the status quo to generate money. When the majority of teenagers and punks just end up getting drunk on a hill at the harbor just to be around the atmosphere with no interest in watching the shows (which were free) the genre as a whole gets a distorted image painted to the youth of the scene that they will inevitably resent.
lyrics
One drop Disney, neglect to the teen
Aimed at the family not the in between
Festival of the people what a joke
More like overproduced upper-class upstrokes
It's just so easy to swallow
Apolitical lyrics all hollow
Keep the underrated underground
What happened to the freedom sound?
It's our censure against your ska
Real rude boys want something raw
Keep the crusties on the hill
Cause we'll never see real music on the bill
A grey blur was once a two tone
Now only exposure to the wealthy well known
We're gonna drown from our music being watered down
Oh Dane your jubilation became profane
Oh Dane your jubilation became profane
Oh Dane your jubilation became profane
Oh Dane your society has gotten lame yeah
